Flow. Inbound route. SMS sender.
Create a flow
As with all channels, you may want to use a flow to handle the initial processing of new messages. This is optional, but can be extremely helpful, particularly if you have access to Advanced flows.
For example:
- You might want to send an automatic reply to every SMS message you receive with the Reply applet.
- You could use a flow to look at the content of messages with the Routing applet, sending messages containing keywords to one queue, and those that don't to a different queue.
Check the inbound route
Your SMS inbound route will be automatically created, pointing SMS messages to the queue and project you specified when ordering the SMS number.
If you have decided to use a flow with SMS, you will need to update the inbound route to point to the flow.
If you need to update the route to point to a flow, in your Admin account:
- Go to the Inbound page.
- Go to the Inbound routes subpage.
- If necessary, search for your SMS inbound route.
- Click the to the right of the table for that route.
- Click Edit destination.
- Click the Destination type drop-down list and select Flow.
- Click the Flow drop-down list and select the name of the correct flow.
- Click OK.
Update the project's sender information
Once you have received confirmation that the number is active, you will need to set the SMS sender information in your project.
In your Admin account:
- Go to the Projects page.
- Go to the Project list subpage.
- If necessary, search for your omni project that you will send SMS from.
- Click the name of the project.
In SMS sender:
- Click to select the Number option.
- Select the correct SMS number for this project.
- Click the Save button in the top right.
